Request for Proposals

The Deep Mining Research Consortium (DMRC) is engaged in underground hardrock mining research to improve the manageability of risks associated with mining below 2000 metres in Canada.

The Technical Committee of the DMRC welcomes all proposals related to deep mining and particularly those that address any of the following issues:

  • Use of ore or waste water to remove heat

  • The reduction of heat transfer from rock surfaces

  • Enviro suits for miners

  • Ropeless hoisting

  • Shaft scheduling material (too slow)

  • U/G preconcentration

  • Shaft sinking simulation and methods study

  • Methods to reduce regional pillars

  • Dilution control AD

  • Caving methods for overstressed ground

  • High speed lateral development at depth

  • Stope stability at depth

  • Continuous mining with short round blast (small scale D&B)

  • Support in severely deformed drifts

  • Drill blast designs for highly overstressed ground drift

  • Delineation in exploration phase, RQD, stress, geomech parameters - milk the core

  • Drill hole stability in highly stressed ground
